Key Indicators of Healthy Congregations
There are five key indicators of healthy congregations across all denominations. These are: spiritual vitality, clear sense of mission, strong financial support, increase in attendance over the past five years and no major conflicts over the past two years. This is just one of the findings from the most recent Faith Communities Today (FACT) survey discussed this week at the Cooperative Congregational Studies Partnership in Chicago.
This report will not be released until later this fall. We got an early look at it because Monte Sahlin, chairman of the board for the Center for Creative Ministry, is one of the Adventist participants in this annual gathering of key researchers from more than 40 faiths. The other is Roger Dudley, director of the Institute of Church Ministry at Andrews University.
Center for Creative Ministry will publish the report of the Adventist churches included in FACT 2005 soon after the interfaith report is published this fall.
