Historic Perspective on Baby Boomers
.
An assessment of the impact of the Baby Boom generation on the 20th century has been published in the current issue of American Heritage ("Boomer Century" by Joshua Zeitz, October 2005, pages 32-49), a journal launched by the Library of Congress, although currently owned by Forbes. Every Adventist congregation has a significant number of people from this generation (in their 40s and 50s right now) and most church boards are now dominated by this generation, despite the fact that the Adventist Church never really engaged with this cohort and has lost the majority of those born into Adventist homes. The article not only provides excellent perspective, but also asks the hard questions, such as, "Just how special are the baby boomers?" It also includes short lists of the most important books about and most influential movies from this generation. You can read it at this link.
